Emmy ex-off: Jennifer Carpenter vs Julia Stiles

Did Michael C Hall actually go the Emmys? I’ve seen photos of him at an after-party but haven’t been able to find pictures of him at the show. Or perhaps I was preoccupied with shots of his ex-wife and his ex-lover dressed in similarly toned gowns. Grey-nude silhouette, hair down and wavy, one more tricked out than the other but overall it’s the same play, giving them even more in common than former lover and co-star.

I’ll give the edge to Carpenter who very rarely misses even though Stiles certainly deserves credit for her improvement. Do you remember her from the Golden Globes? Click here for a refresher. Goddamn that was bad. But she has a new boyfriend now. And he isn’t married. Some people figure it out quickly. Unlike Claire Danes who... I mean it took her a while and I worry that all the joy was taken from her and she can’t get it back. More on this later.

She has a thing for co-stars

Well, at least this one isn’t married. In that respect, it’s almost exactly what Claire Danes went through, only without the pregnancy. Mary Louise Parker was expecting with Billy Crudup when he left her for Claire. That was a tumultuous, tortured relationship which almost killed Angela Chase for us forever. And then Claire went on to make a movie with Hugh Dancy and finally shook it off.

Julia Stiles of course was a rather significant addition to the Dexter cast last season, on screen and off. There’s been no definitive, definitive word on whether or not she’s coming back for Season 6 but most signs point to the fact that Lumen is gone, on screen and off. For now.

Check out Julia with her new man, actor David Harbour, unable to contain themselves in New York yesterday. Julia and David just worked together on a movie called Between Us. This relationship appears to be a lot less fraught with drama and awkwardness and ex-wives on the set.

The thing about denials is what ISN’T being denied. Especially in a public statement. As I mentioned last week, some gossip stories take a while to play out. In the end though, they will unfold the way they should. Because most of the time celebrities are terrible liars.

Dexter Affair? Julia Stiles Fires Back About Michael C. Hall

As soon as Dexter costars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter announced their real-life marriage was over, the rumors began.

The internet was flooded with claims that Hall has been romancing Julia Stiles, who plays his love interest on the hit Showtime series.

So, what's the real deal? Read on to find out…

Stiles insists she and Hall are not seeing each other.

"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer," Stiles says in a statement released by her rep. "We are good friends and enjoyed working together. This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life, private—I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter."

Hall and Carpenter told Entertainment Weekly early this week that they were divorcing after almost two years of marriage, explaining that they have "been separated for some time."

Divorce and Nomination

I guess that’s how it rolls in Hollywood.

Access Hollywood broke the exclusive last night – that Dexter stars Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are through. So they released a statement confirming it, claiming it’s been over between them for some time now. Awkward. The work situation is very awkward. Apparently she’s been unable to keep her sh-t down on the set, yapping to cast, crew, anyone about their problems, making people uncomfortable. And they’re worried how these two will manage their relationship now that it’s out in the open that it’s over. She’s expected to file divorce papers imminently.

Even though breakups are no big deal in Hollywood, because what lasts anymore?, this one felt more sad than most. He had cancer and they fought through that, and he’s fine now but their marriage became a casualty. This is why I’m so superstitious. Nothing is ever free. Something good happens, something must be sacrificed. And on the heels of his divorce announcement, he just received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Life is terrifying.

Separation Season

So many breakups. Yesterday it was Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter. Today it’s two names on a muuuuch bigger scale. This article is about Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. I mentioned yesterday that there are a few more details about one of the recent splits announced in Hollywood this week. Turns out there was someone else: his love interest this season on his tv show. Their chemistry was so crazy and so evident to everyone that writer and producers, seeing it play out on set, actually cranked up their sex scenes to capture it for show. Her career has seen a resurgence since.

Eventually the two fell in love. They were together, very close, at a Halloween party in New York this fall hosted by a famously controversial writer (this isn’t a super important detail) and those who observed them that night are not surprised now that he’s ended it with his wife.
