Game Of Thrones Episode 9 on Sunday. Will the Khaleesi marry that guy? Will Jorah die? Please let him die. I don’t know what the point of that character is anymore. She has Tyrion now. Make Jorah go away. As for Margaery in prison…will old lady Tyrell bust her out of jail? And leave Cersei behind?
Margaery, real name Natalie Dormer, is currently in Serbia evidently shooting a movie with Taylor Kinney, better known as Lady Gaga’s fiancé. Gaga has joined him on location. And the gossip in me is wondering if it’s because Natalie is SO hot. Anyway, they all went out for dinner the other night. I’ve never been attracted to Kinney. Melissa Grelo, my colleague on The Social, thinks he’s super hot. Really?
You know why I can’t get there? Stop reading now if you’re into him and don’t want that to change because I’m about to kill it for you. Sometimes in photos I confuse Taylor Kinney with Gerard Butler. I would rather be on day 2 of my period with serious cramps than play Picture Him On Top Of You with Gerard Butler.

Tom Hardy is an asshole
The Revenant junket happened the other day. Tom Hardy was available for interviews. But, actually, not really. Hitfix’s Drew McWeeny was supposed to interview Tom and was f-cked over. Normally when that happens, we’re too afraid to talk sh-t about the celebrity because we don’t want to be blacklisted by the studios for upcoming opportunities. I’ve written about this many, many times. Hollywood crusades for free speech all the time, so long as the free speech is when you only report positively about their projects, and if you don’t, they have no problem with censorship. So, basically, you just have to accept them pissing in your face. And you return to get pissed on, indefinitely.
More and more though, journalists are calling out the hypocrisy. It’s not so much courage as fatigue. At some point, you just get tired of being kicked in the face. This is what happened to Drew McWeeny. These are his tweets:
Thing is, when he doesn’t want to be (amenable), he makes it hard for the people who are trying on his behalf to do their jobs. That’s not media either. It’s the people he works with at the studio. It’s the publicists who are there to support the film, the work of the entire cast and crew.
And that’s what Drew McWeeny mentions in his tweets too. He’s seen Tom Hardy make publicists cry – and they’re on his team. I know people on his team, who’ve been assigned to be there for him, to assist him, who are counted on to make sure Tom Hardy performs his publicity duties, who’ve been shouted at by him for because he’s grumpy from waking up too early, or because he’s hungry, or because he needs a coffee, but really because he just doesn’t want to be there. Does that mean he can verbally kick the sh-t out of them?
If you’re a Tom Hardy fangirl, you have an excuse for it, probably. Because the media, we’re lowlife c-nt motherf-ckers and we deserve what’s coming to us, sure. Tom Hardy is well within his rights to make people wait half a workday. He’s a goodlooking millionaire actor who, occasionally, has to sit through a series of dumb questions. That gives him the right to prioritise himself over others.

She’s the more famous one in her relationship but for some reason, I always thought he’d be one who stepped out. When she followed him on location a while back, the assumption was that she went along because his co-star was so attractive. But he’s actually not the one who’s been cheating.
She’s the one who found a new kind of work and picked up a sidepiece. They can’t help themselves on set. Another art imitation of life situation as they creep around and so far it hasn’t gotten back to her bonafide yet but the cast and crew are aware and the guy she’s hooking up with is married. Right now it’s “just” an affair. Like they’re not pretending they’re in love yet. But if (when?) both these couples don’t end up working out, look back to this as a sign.

Dear Gossips,
It’s been two weeks since we last heard from Beyoncé. And it’s not like we hear all that much from Beyoncé these days. As you know, Beyoncé hasn’t been interviewed in a long, long time. Beyoncé communicates to us now only through videos or social media. But, as of this writing, she hasn’t posted anything for two weeks. 2015 has been pretty quiet.
The latest on Beyoncé is that she’s agreed to star in Bradley Cooper’s remake of A Star Is Born. We’ll get to that in a Bradley post later today. Even if that’s true though, filming supposedly won’t start until the end of 2016, maybe even 2017. That’s an entire year. Of what?
Yesterday was the two year anniversary of the surprise release of Beyoncé, complete with all those music videos and catchphrases: “I woke up like this”, “surfbort”, “bow down bitches”, and more. As you know, Beyoncé is an information hoarder. She’s never going to tell you what she’s doing until she’s done doing it. And yes, the point is that she wants us to wonder. Because there’s no doubt she’s up to something. But what?

"Tighten up and regret" clue
What are some reasons a celebrity might go quiet for a couple of weeks or so on social media? Maybe they’re gearing up for a major announcement trying to create anticipation. Maybe they’re just bored of themselves? Hardly.
Once in a while they disappear for an old-fashioned reason: plastic surgery. She wanted to tighten up, trim down, even though, supposedly she’s fit as f-ck. And is selling the gear to prove it. Sure. So that’s why there was no activity for a while on social. It was an extensive procedure. And no one was allowed to come to the house during her recovery because she couldn’t go upstairs. The healing time was terrible. And an infection had set in. So it took even longer than expected. Which is why she has some regret now. That’ll pass. It always does when another area needs work.

Hipsters cheat too
"Hipsters cheat too," it's not...
He’s a hipster musician, in one of those acclaimed bands that shows up on Saturday Night Live once a year, or at least that’s how it feels like to me, who sometimes gets into Twitter fights with actual musical legends. Of course he’s smug, and he talks a lot of trash. Also, he steps out on his wife.
Let’s back up though. Because his first marriage ended ugly too. Two years later he proposed to his second wife, who has many celebrity friends in her own right, and it was a big hipster wedding with designer flourishes and they were happy, teasing each other in magazines. That’s over now too. He’s been cheating on her with a songwriter who was everywhere 15 years ago, although at the time a lot of us couldn’t tell her apart from another girl on a piano. She divorced earlier this year. Now his wife has filed for divorce because she found out about their affair. Can’t wait to see what excuse he comes up for it this time.

Hipsters cheat too
The Detroit Free Press published a fascinating report yesterday. (Thanks Sarah!) I’m quoting:
An anonymously filed lawsuit involving a much-talked-about disease has surfaced in federal court in Detroit, where an unnamed woman is suing an unnamed celebrity from California for allegedly giving her genital herpes while having sex with her multiple times in Royal Oak last summer.
Why the secrecy?
"This complaint is brought anonymously due to the social stigma attached to the damages as well as the celebrity of the defendant," according to the lawsuit, which seeks at least $75,000 in damages. The lawsuit does not say whether the celebrity is an actor, musician, athlete or politician — only that he is a citizen of California, and that he had a residence of some sort in Royal Oak in July.
The plaintiff, who is a Michigan resident but currently is in New York, claims the unnamed celebrity has permanently scarred her physically, emotionally and psychologically by failing to warn her that he was infected with genital herpes, and "by failing to altogether avoid sexual contact" with her. Her lawsuit also alleges that the defendant "knew or should have known" that he was infected with Herpes Simplex Virus 2.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff had repeated sexual encounters with the defendant in July, primarily at his residence in Royal Oak, and "did not and has not had any sexual relations with anyone other than" him since then.
In addition to sports events, there were a few productions happening this past summer in Detroit. There was a MAJOR production doing reshoots in Detroit. You should know it without me naming it. An epic battle? Sound familiar? Most locals are immediately picking up on that one and not really considering the non-film and tv options.
And two obvious names from that project come to mind. And one more obvious than the other. Because he had a summer full of scandal. So it makes sense why some would think he'd have yet another scandal added to his 2015 scandal list.
Thing is though, the herpes rumours? The OTHER name is the one who's been rumoured to have herpes. He has a new young girlfriend. And when they first hooked up, he apparently disclosed it to her. (It’s a blind within a blind!) Then again, he's not a resident of California.
Or you know what?
It's very, very possible though that it's neither of them. That they have nothing to do with it. That it's not an actor celebrity but an athlete celebrity?

Who’s having unsafe sex?
Right now it seems like nothing can go wrong for him, at least not professionally. He's in a groove. Personally things seemed to be going great too. He's happy with his partner. They're loving parents, they are supportive of each other, they are both kind and sweet people. But she's been upset about not being able to get pregnant and now she's in denial about a serious problem. It's starting to affect her career. She shows up drunk to events, embarrassingly drunk. To the point where reporters speaking to her don't even feel comfortable using what she's said, even though these are press opportunities for promotion. And they are really concerned about it at work. She drinks at work and it's making the situation difficult for cast and crew because they have to keep reshooting over her mistakes and the retakes are piling up. Her boss has had extensive experience with a big star disrupting the set and is just trying to get through as much as they can, keep production going, because no one wants the staff to be out of pay if everything is suspended. Recently though, it’s come to the point where they had to hold an intervention for her. It happened on set. Right now she's not in rehab but the hope is that they can keep her functioning until there's a long enough break for her when she's ready for treatment.

Jimmy Fallon’s happy family
“Is it still surprising when Jimmy Fallon trips and hurts himself? Because, um, it happens a lot. I guess he’s just accident-prone, which makes everyone feel better.” That’s what I wrote last week when Jimmy Fallon hurt himself again while receiving an award at Harvard. It’s kind of been an issue for a while. And on Sunday, Page Six published a report about how worried NBC executives are right now about his habits, his drinking. Hm. Just drinking? According to Page Six, Jimmy’s always been a partier, a “happy drunk”. But now, with the added pressure of headlining the highest rated late night talk show, apparently the excess has turned dark.
Jimmy’s takeover from Jay Leno on The Tonight Show has been a major success for the network. He is one of their most valued properties. So their concern about him is understandable but I wonder too whether or not it’s helpful. When you care about someone as a commodity instead of caring about them out of pure compassion, your perspective on their wellness is compromising.
Oh look. How convenient. Check out Jimmy with his wife and daughter in New York yesterday looking all kinds of “everything’s fine”. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Have you watched Ryan Adams interviewing Taylor Swift about both their 1989s? Oh reeeeally? I say that with my eyes closed, like I’m blind.
Let me take you back to 2008 when Ryan was dating Mandy Moore. He was 34 at the time, so please, don’t blame this on youth, and he decided he couldn’t be with Mandy anymore because of the paparazzi etc so he released a statement to OK! Magazine, a TABLOID, to explain his decision. Basically he said that while Mandy is sweet and awesome, he had to break up with her because being with her was interfering with his efforts to be “punk as f-ck”. They eventually got back together. Now they’re divorced. And he’s telling Taylor Swift that when he’s having a hard time writing a song, all he has to do is put on the Smiths and then suddenly he’s inspired.
Let your eyes roll to the back of your head and open your mouth. That’s basically the expression he deserves. He’s so punk as f-ck he can’t take his goddamn sunglasses off to have a conversation with someone.

Last time we blinded about her, she’d had an affair on set with a married actor with a skeevy character vibe. His marriage is still intact. Another marriage, however, has ended. And she was, again, involved. Once again it started as a working situation. Of the two of them, she’s definitely more well-known. But even if you don’t know him by name, he books steady jobs, and his face should be familiar to you. He too is good at playing assholes.
When they met, she had a boyfriend and he was about to celebrate a milestone with his wife. Stage life and real life soon blurred, they were hooking up in and out of character, and she was texting him explicitly. They couldn’t let it go after wrapping up production. Which is why he’s not married anymore. He left his wife for her. According to their inner circle, they were so into each other that she followed him while he was on anniversary holiday in Europe with his wife. He would make up excuses during that trip to slip away and spend time with her. Eventually her boyfriend busted her and they broke up. He ended up filing for divorce in August and they insist they’re just friends, that nothing shady went down, that no one knows the real story. But those who saw all of it go down say they’re totally together now but are trying to put enough distance between the end of the marriage and their coming out so that people won’t suspect how they started, if that is, they last that long.

Tom Hardy ain’t got time for primadonna directors
Tom Hardy gave an interview, via Skype, to Vulture and in it he sh*ts all over the idea of directors and basically says they contribute nothing to film. I laughed for a solid five minutes, because cinema is a culture that worships directors and also because Tom Hardy basically just declared to all future employers that he doesn’t really respect what they do. His full quote is great:
“A writer comes with nothing and he writes something down and there’s a story. Then a bunch of actors come along, and people can watch that. Then a third person comes along and says, ‘I really love what you guys are doing. And if you’d just do it the way I see it, we’d really be onto something.’ And there’s part of me that goes: ‘Why are you here?’ A director who hasn’t written something, and they say, ‘Trust me.’ And I’m like, ‘With what, mate?’”
I kind of see his point, in that it can sometimes seem like a director, at least when you’re on set, isn’t creating anything. The script came from someone else, the stunts are being worked out by other people, costumes and sets are designed by others, the actors have the interpretative job, and yet more people are handling the cameras, with the cinematographer determining lighting and how those cameras are operating as a unit. The editor is setting the rhythm, the composer and sound engineers deciding what the film sounds like. So what is the director doing, besides bossing people around?
A good director is like a general, marshalling troops and maintaining order. Movies are made up of thousands of moving parts, often with multiple filming units shooting simultaneously. Someone has to control that chaos. But more importantly, a director takes words on a page and figures out how to tell that story visually. Writing and cinema are two different mediums, and not all writers—even very good ones—are capable of telling their story in a visual way. That’s why we always talk about the director’s “vision” for a project, because they’re the person you’re entrusting specifically because they have an idea for how to take words on a page and make it a three-dimensional visual story.
It sounds like Hardy loses patience easily with directors who can’t, or won’t, communicate. A director who can’t communicate is a problem, because communication is everything on a movie set, but there are a lot of directors who simply don’t want to discuss things with actors. They just want to tell the actor where to go and what to do in a scene, and then have the actor deliver their lines and shut up about it. Woody Allen is famous for not really giving actors direction, so maybe Hardy should avoid working with Woody Allen, who is not interested in real collaboration with actors.
And of course, The Revenant and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu comes up. The Revenant sounds like an absolute nightmare, and Hardy pretty well confirms that, saying, “I think [Alejandro] bit down hard on something that bit him back. And he bit back as well. And it continued to be a beast that was biting him, and he was biting it, and we all bit down.” Okay but how did Inarritu get Hardy to “bite down”? Did the fact that Inarritu adapted the screenplay himself do the trick? Or did they work out their differences another way? DID they work them out? Or is Hardy just adjusting his rhetoric to toe a party line, since The Revenant is an Oscar hopeful? Those two have had a combative relationship so far—will it end up cutting Hardy out of the Oscar run?

“The actor from Ontario”
I interviewed Josh Brolin for Gangster Squad a couple of years ago. Half our interview was about Ryan Gosling’s balls…which wasn’t actually what I was asking. All I did was throw Josh a question about Ryan, what's he like to work with, their chemistry, etc. And then he started talking about Ryan’s balls and how they’re like a “vineyard”. My sense was that he was mocking Ryan’s preciousness. We’ve heard about this before. About how he’ll be in a comedy and he’ll still need to know what his “motivation” is in a scene requiring him to just stand there and look good. And there were rumours that after he and George Clooney worked together on The Ides Of March that George didn’t have a lot of patience for his accent. Speaking of that accent….
Josh is currently doing press for Everest. And in a new interview with Man Of The World, he brings up an accent.
“I see young Hollywood punks on the set, and it’s funny to me. Because it’s absolutely me all over again. I’m the old guy who’s like, Oh cool, you got your leather jacket and it cost you $400 and you bought it all ripped up! I remember a guy I worked with who was from Ontario, but he talked like De Niro. I was like, Holy sh-t, he’s actually doing De Niro. Does he know that I know? I’m not even listening to what he’s saying. It’s fascinating to me.”
No one was named, specifically, but come on. We all know who he’s referring to. Who else could it be? I f-cking love this story. I love it so much. I love that Josh Brolin sits around talking sh-t about why a kid from Canada sounds like Robert De Niro. I love that if Josh is talking about it, other people, his peers, must be too. You think it’s ever come up between Josh and Sean Penn? They’re tight. Or has he mentioned it to Benicio Del Toro ever? During Sicario? Hey, Benicio, you know that Canadian kid, Gosling, right? Have you ever asked him why he talks like De Niro?

Like if I had that kind of money, hanging out with all my friends at a resort? Not having to worry about my luggage getting lost on the way home? And having to pay for all the excursions and meals for the next six months?
Anyway, JT, but not John Travolta, ahem, was also asked about whether or not Jen would be changing her last name. She actually changed it for Brad Pitt. I remember she even had letterhead made as Jennifer Pitt. Justin says he doesn’t think it’s a good idea, because people will still just end up calling her Jennifer Aniston anyway. It was pouring on Saturday night for the Legend premiere at TIFF. And the fans, they stood out there in the rain, waiting patiently for Tom Hardy. Meanwhile, I was under the red carpet awning, waiting impatiently for an interview. It didn’t happen.
The film was supposed to start at 9:30pm. Tom arrived around 9:05pm and spent almost half an hour rewarding the crowd for their dedication, taking pictures, shaking hands, so that when he finally stepped onto the carpet, he was soaked.
Water dripped down his face, down his neck, off his fingers…
He wiped himself down with his hands, from his head, across his cheeks, down his chest…
And I got to watch that. For several minutes, I got to watch wet Tom Hardy. It almost made up for not talking to him because at that point he had to get into the theatre. But maybe that was the bonus of spending time with fans – he hates the media, he hates press, he hates promotion. And the fans are a great excuse to not have to participate.
I say excuse because, well, George Clooney does both, you know? He gets there early enough so that the fans get their time and the press gets their time. Going forward, the press will probably be getting less and less of Tom Hardy’s time. Because an awkward incident went down at the Legend presser that set him off. One of the reporters decided to ask about Tom’s sexuality related to his character’s sexuality, citing a quote that Tom gave a few years ago about his sexual experimentation. Click here to see how Tom responded. I like how he handled it. So the good news is… he can actually be good at press. The bad news is… he doesn’t want to be when this kind of sh-t happens. Thing is, when he doesn’t want to be, he makes it hard for the people who are trying on his behalf to do their jobs. That’s not media either. It’s the people he works with at the studio. It’s the publicists who are there to support the film, the work of the entire cast and crew.
As for Tom on the TIFF party circuit – not much gossip there. He went to Soho House but didn’t shut the place down or anything, more like a “I’ll show my face for a minute and get the f-ck out” appearance. He’s still in town though so I’ll keep you posted.

It’s not just John Travolta who uses spray to fill in his hair. But this guy fronts like he’s way cooler. So they have more than just letters in common. And he's pretty worried about the hair loss. Right now then he’s using the spray, so much that it stains the sheets, the pillowcases, hard to get out.
So while his vibe is all chill, supposedly, he's just as concerned about aesthetics as his wife, which, I guess, is pretty obvious when you consider his signature style - another sign that this is finally the perfect partnership.

It will hurt me if you say you have no idea who Sirius Black is.
As you know, Ben Affleck spent his birthday last weekend at Harry Potter World with his family. Which, presumably, is where he got his new t-shirt. Good choice. Sirius is one of the most beloved characters created by JK Rowling. And not just because he was played by Gary Oldman, although that certainly added to his steeze. You remember how Oldman worked the wand play in Order Of The Phoenix, at the end there? At the Ministry of Magic? No one looked cooler.
So. Um. Is there a comparison here?
Sirius was innocent but everyone thought he was a traitor/murderer. Eventually he was exonerated. You think Ben feels the same way? That he's been wrongly accused of being the stupid ass fool? Look at that smirk on his face. There's a guy who thinks we're wrong about him. Who can't wait to put us in our place. Fine.
But first can we take some time to check out Chrissy O's weekend wardrobe? It's only been 3 days but in that time, Chrissy O gave the paps a lot to work with. Maybe she googled herself last week and wasn't happy with how the Internet reacted to that ugly coin belt with the black jeans.
Word is, Chrissy O has been handling several offers - including porn. Apparently a million dollars to f-ck on film as Batwoman? I doubt she'll take it though, especially since she's angling for a reality show - and why wouldn't TLC give her one? It's not like they have standards when it comes to their reality stars. If he thinks he can't escape her now, just wait until she's fronting her own show, porn or not.
Is that irony? If the MiniVan Majority's favourite mom can't get a talk show but the other woman lands her own show, is that irony? Or something else?

Too "upper class" for talk
"Too 'upper class' for talk" reveal 1
For a year now she’s been pitching a panel-style talk show about love and marriage, similar to The View or The Talk, partnering with popular parent and women’s lifestyle websites. Because of her high profile, she wasn’t expected to show up every day but often enough, like a few times a month, so that the audience would know that it was hers – the Barbara Walters of the group, you could say. The other women included a newlywed, a model-actress-mom in her 40s, a single, divorced woman in her 40s, and a woman in her early 60s.
Would you believe, though, that even with her popularity with the MiniVan Majority, no one was interested. The show was rejected, repeatedly, while other similar shows, featuring other personalities, got picked up, like Tyra Banks’s FABLife. The reason? Too “upper class”.
Interestingly enough, this happened before everything blew up. And now that it’s all blown up, and she has everyone’s sympathy, the show still isn’t getting any play…even though she could be an expert at talking about love and marriage right now. But is she willing to go there? It might change if she’s willing to talk about it. Would she talk about it? On camera? Probably not. Not for the sake of the children. But that doesn’t mean it’s not leverage – not only from a business perspective but when dealing with that idiot too.

Blake & Miranda: his and her cheating rumours
IN TOUCH Magazine is reporting that Blake Shelton and Cady Groves hooked up and that’s why he and Miranda Lambert are over. Now Blake is threatening to sue IN TOUCH. According to TMZ, his lawyers have sent the magazine a letter warning that he’ll take them to court if they don’t retract their story. He denies the affair ("Mr. Shelton did not have a sexual relationship or affair of any nature whatsoever with Ms. Groves.") and according to Blake, Cady is the one who’s been “infatuated” with him and he also suggests that it’s Cady who’s providing information to the publication perhaps to boost her own profile. Curiously, when I contacted a Nashville source about the claims, and this person is very well connected with country music, she’d never heard of Cady Groves before. Still, IN TOUCH is standing by their reporting and insists that they have even more sh-t to unload in their new issue.
While IN TOUCH is taking the anti-Blake approach, another low level magazine is going for Miranda and also naming names. OK! is calling out Miranda for cheating with her tour manager:
OK! is also revealing the tour manager’s name: Ryan Westbrook. Um, is a tour manager a member of the tour team, ahem? OK! says that Ryan Westbrook is married. You know, it’s usually riskier to mention a non-famous person, someone who doesn’t exist in front of the camera, in a scandal because they can make a case that you’re exposing them and compromising their privacy. If that makes a difference…

Her Cheating Heart
"Her Cheating Heart" reveal 2
The Hollywood Reporter has a feature with director Alejandro Inarritu, still working on The Revenant, which is basically just giving the guy a microphone to clear up those pesky rumors that his production is “troubled”, plagued by a hellish location shoot, budget overages, and scheduling woes. At least Inarritu doesn’t actually deny any of that stuff, instead he just keeps saying how it will all be worth it because his vision is so grand and the movie is so epic and all of the problems will fade when the film is finished and we behold its glory. And maybe that’s true. Apocalypse Now had a famously troubled shoot and that movie turned out to be APOCALYPSE NOW. Rough productions don’t necessarily mean bad movies. Sometimes, they’re the making of all-time great cinema.
But man does The Revenant sound like a nightmare. It sounds like a real-life Tropic Thunder where everyone lost their goddamn minds while making a physically taxing movie—they think their struggle to make this movie is actually the exact same thing as the struggle the early frontier people faced. Come award season, that will absolutely be this movie’s narrative. It will be all about how much they suffered to realize Inarritu’s vision because he’s a f*cking genius and yeah, we were pushed to the brink but it was worth it in the end because the movie is so good. And maybe the movie really will be that good. It kind of looks like a standard Western to me, but let’s just say it ends up being a masterpiece. Does that make it okay to treat people the way they’ve been treated on this set?
I’ve heard complaints for months from people affiliated with this production that have actually made me angry, especially in the wake of the tragic death of Sarah Jones, a camera assistant who was struck by a train on the set of Midnight Rider. At the point that your vision is putting people in physical danger, no dude, sorry. That’s what special effects are for. Sometimes sh*t happens, like Harrison Ford trips on a threshold and breaks his ankle, but other times directors insist on dangerous stunts, like one involving a young actor who had to be legit dragged naked across the ground. But he got a plastic sheet! And he said he was okay! Of course he did—he got a role in a film by reigning Best Director Alejandro Inarritu. He’s not going to risk getting bumped from the part, especially given that Inarritu was freely firing people who challenged him. If Inarritu needed to be laid out on his ass—and it sure sounds like he did—some young kid is not the one who’s going to do it. That’s a job for a veteran. (Lainey: maybe one with an accent, ahem.)
You notice how the problem is never Inarritu? The producer didn’t communicate, the crew members are lying, your expectations were off. Clearly sh*t got out of hand on this production—which is not a quality judgment on the film—but Inarritu seems incapable of owning his part in that. You don’t want to compromise, fine, but then you have to accept that people are probably going to be annoyed with/mad at you because you are putting them through hell. It’s not a conspiracy of lies, they’re f*cking pissed that their job has blown monkey chunks for the better part of the year. To quote the great Raylan Givens: You run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. You run into assholes all day—you’re the asshole.

Actor vs Director
"Actor vs Director" reveal 2
Miranda Lambert’s “long time affair”
The Blake Shelton/Miranda Lambert divorce covers the new issues of PEOPLE and US Weekly. Some sources are saying it was because he wanted kids and she didn’t. Some sources are saying that she didn’t love the Hollywood life that he was getting used to on The Voice. After reporting yesterday that she may have been unfaithful to him, TMZ is now hearing from sources on Team Miranda about Blake’s alleged infidelities. And now Access Hollywood has come out to cite a source who claims that Miranda "‘had long time affair’ with someone in the music business and when Blake confronted her about it, she admitted to it. It was then that the Voice coach decided to end the marriage.”
Access Hollywood is affiliated with NBC, right? NBC airs The Voice?
Doesn’t mean it’s not true. But as I said the other day, Blake’s mainstream now. He’s got a lot of power behind him. And, clearly, the Nashville base is behind him too. For some reason, so far, Nashville seems to be on his side. Wonder why?

Her Cheating Heart
"Her Cheating Heart" reveal
Did Miranda cheat?
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton confirmed they were divorcing yesterday. Then, shortly after, they confirmed that they were already divorced. Since there was a prenup in place, the paperwork was relatively easy. She’s been moving her sh-t out of their Oklahoma home and will live in Nashville. PEOPLE was quick to report that Blake was not unfaithful, especially after all the tabloid reports about him stepping out on her. And now TMZ is reporting that Miranda was actually the cheater in this situation. Supposedly Blake was suspicious about her relationship with country singer Chris Young. And there was another guy, who’s not a country singer, who he found out about two weeks ago, prompting him to file for divorce.
If that’s the case, Miranda is f-cked on so many levels. Because on top of the personal disappointment, this could seriously affect her professional standing. You can cheat on your wife and be forgiven in the country format. But if you cheat on your husband in that format? And your husband has crossed over? Country is Blake Shelton’s base but he also made it mainstream. The Voice took him to the next level. He’s beloved. The MiniVan Majority loves him. Miranda? Not quite there yet. Country is still where she exists. And if they start believing that she was messing around behind his back, they might not be all that forgiving. Even worse, they might start talking.
Out of respect for Blake and their marriage, a lot of people cut her a lot of slack. Now that a clear side has been presented to them, you’ll see those loyalties shifting. And you’ll hear those stories coming out. Watch this space.

Her Cheating Heart
"Her Cheating Heart" clue
The easy assumption is that their marriage is over because he cheated. He may have. But I’ve spoken to over a dozen impeccable sources, the best sources, sources I’ve worked with for many, many years. And while none of them can verify whether or not he stepped out, they can all confirm that she did.
They work in a small town. It’s a protective community. The community insulates their own. Even if artists f-ck up, the community generally keeps their sh-t contained, honouring a country code. So, even though a lot of people had a lot to say about her for a long time, out of respect for the business and for her husband, the community locked down her secrets. Also, they were afraid. Because, as two sources told me, “She’s crazy as f-ck. She’s the one who doesn’t just threaten to burn down your house, she would totally burn down your house. No one wants to mess with her”.
This is why no one could challenge her when she took a song from another artist, written by the other artist, without any notice, and went on to great acclaim for it. In public they all pretended like it was agreed upon and civil, but that’s not how it went down. She ripped off the piece from an emerging young talent and you saw it on that girl’s face – she was helpless at the time.
This is why no one wanted to expose her when she threw herself at another major superstar just before she got married. She offered herself to him repeatedly. While they were working together she presented herself to him one night only to have him push her out the door. So she’d start calling his wife, telling the wife that she was going to take her man, telling the wife that she wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. And she started texting him, begging him to tell her what she had to do to get him to leave his wife and be with her. She promised him, over text, that if he was with her they would be country royalty. When he refused to hook up with her, he and his label received a cease and desist from her people, telling him that he would have to reset his album because she and her now-husband would no longer allow him to use any of the music they’d written together. This is how and why they all ended up professional rivals. But, again, at the time, because she had a reputation for being so unpredictable, with mercurial mood swings, and because she was so popular (to the public) and powerful, no one wanted to take her down. Until now.
The town is turning against her because her husband just cut her loose. He finally cut her loose because she was caught, very recently, cheating on him with a member of her tour team (he’s not talent but he has a prominent position) – and there’s a family involved. She tried, but there was no way she could deny it. The evidence was irrefutable. It was flagrant. And this is why people are breaking the code. They see this as the ultimate disrespect. The way she went about it, so carelessly, they see it like a willful humiliation of her husband, who is very well liked. This, on top of the fact that people have been waiting for years for her to get what’s coming, is why so many people in that community are ready to sell her out.

Her Cheating Heart
It’s been a while since we’ve had any new pap shots of Michael Fassbender. When he shows up though, he doesn’t disappoint. Here he is in New York on Saturday with Alicia Vikander. They fell in love last year in Australia while shooting The Light Between Oceans. As you can see, that hasn’t changed. But will it change if Vikander delivers on what many are calling her breakout year? What she’s predicting to be her breakout year?
She has several high profile films due in 2015 and she recently told W Magazine that she was ready to be more well-known. This girl is ambitious. And she doesn’t water it down either:
“But next year, the Oscars will be interesting. If all goes well, I’m going to have three films in contention. I’ve had many years of working a lot without being in the public eye. And that’s been good. But by this time next year, I think things are going to change.” She smiled. “I expect to be busy. I’m ready to be a bit more known.”
This is interesting to me. Her fresh thirst for it and his jaded disdain. You remember how pouty he was about Oscar campaigning for 12 Years A Slave after the disappointment of not being nominated for Shame? Or maybe being around her will change his attitude.

"17 July 2015 Smutty Shout-Outs" clue 2
James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender at Comic-Con for X-Men: Apocalypse. And then were interviewed on Conan, talking about how fans have been shipping their situation. It’s a great video. They’re great together. They’re sexy together. Especially James. Even without hair. And he has great hair! It’s thick and wavy and hot. Check out his hair in this photo from February.
A true testament to his pure sex appeal that he can work it no matter what’s going on on his head. And that sex appeal is contagious. His attitude is contagious. I never like Michael more than when he’s hanging out with his friend, James. It actually reminds of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. James and Michael haven’t known each other since childhood, no, but there’s a positive influence there, just like the one that Matt has on Ben. Ben is always, always much more likeable when he’s hanging with Matt. The same applies to Michael with James. Michael Fassbender without James McAvoy? He can be a dick. With James? So much fun.
PS. Alicia Vikander, who is dating Fassbender, was at Comic-Con too.

His girlfriend wants what his co-star has. An actor dating another actor and she’s getting a little obsessed with becoming the next superstar. Recently they were all at the same event together and she made it very clear, within earshot of others, in close proximity to her career target, that that’s what she deserves, that she has the talent, that she has it all. He seemed uncomfortable with how vocal she was about it, especially since the way she said it sounded really competitive and comparative, as though she thinks she’s actually better.

17 July 2015 Smutty Shout-Outs
As expected, most magazines will feature the Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner breakup on their covers this week, with PEOPLE and US leading the way.
Let’s start with PEOPLE, always more celebrity-friendly, and especially in this case, since they were the first to receive the official divorce statement from the couple and the first to publish photos of them in the Bahamas. But even PEOPLE can’t avoid the infidelity rumours. Although they don’t come right out and accuse Ben Affleck of being unfaithful, they get close. They actually get surprisingly close:
According to a longtime friend of the actress, Affleck recently came to Garner "and told her he had not been committed to the marriage within the past few years," her friend says. "Jen is a fighter. She would not give up unless there was a good reason."
Several sources close to Garner also say that allegations of infidelity (which Affleck vehemently denies) and other troubling behavior, including drinking and gambling, took their toll on the marriage. "She loved Ben," says another close friend. "But there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough and take care of yourself."
You can throw “vehemently denies” in parentheses over and over again but the main takeaway from those two paragraphs is that cheating was an issue. And over at US Weekly, they’re much more direct about it:
One pal claims, in the past year, Garner told her friends that Affleck had “admitted to cheating” with an attractive love interest. A devastated Garner kicked the two-time Oscar winner out of their $17.5 million home in L.A.’s Pacific Palisades, “but eventually decided to forgive him,” says the insider. Meanwhile, a source close to Affleck insists, “Ben did not cheat on Jen.” The A-listers may be the only ones who know the truth, but at least one thing seems certain: Garner's trust had been irrevocably broken. Indeed, insiders say there was plenty of mistrust during their decade-long union. “She tried to leave him a few times, but he would beg her to stay,” one source says of the pair, who fell in love while filming 2003’s Daredevil.
“An attractive love interest?” No one can name names. But come on, you know, you know everyone knows the names.
Most sources I’ve spoken to say that Ben Affleck’s not a bad guy. That he’s actually a nice guy. A very nice, very insecure guy with self-destructive tendencies. That’s how Gwyneth Paltrow described him and I know I keep coming back to this quote but it keeps telling us so much, even though she said it over 10 years ago:
"Ben makes life tough for himself. He's got a lot of complication, and you know, he really is a great guy. So I hope he sorts himself out."
He does. He sorts himself out. He goes forward. And then he goes backward. And the best explanation I’ve been given for this lately, as all of this has gone down, has been from a source who describes him like this:
“It’s almost like he doesn’t believe he deserves any of his success. So he tries to sabotage it. And when he f-cks it all up, he can put himself in the underdog/victim role again and make a comeback.”
How would a guy like that deal with having to play Bruce Wayne, Batman, after carrying all the disappointment of Daredevil? That’s EXACTLY why he took on the role. But for all his determination to prove that he can be a superhero, you have to wonder how he works through the self-doubt.
Also attached – Ben in LA after returning from the Bahamas last week looking wrecked. And arriving in Atlanta yesterday where Jennifer Garner is shooting a new film. According to PEOPLE, he brought gifts for his children and is determined to see them as much as possible. Ironic, a little, non? Atlanta wasn’t great for their marriage. But it would appear that he’s trying to make that comeback, again.

Pop Sugar has the exclusive photos of Jennifer Garner on Monday on the set of her new movie Miracles From Heaven. Click here to see. Her hair is lighter and there’s a ring on her finger. Just like there was a ring on Ben Affleck’s finger in the totally not staged, super candid photos that PEOPLE posted yesterday – click here for a refresher.
Apparently Ben returned to LA on Friday. PEOPLE reports that he went out on Sunday, no ring this time. They also say that Jen and the kids stayed a couple more days before leaving Baker’s Bay. PEOPLE obviously has a lock on their schedule, or at least what they want you to know about their schedule. And their relationship right now. So, officially, they are moving ahead during this difficult time, prioritising the children, no animosity. Remember this, then, as we approach the start of Comic-Con where he and Warner Bros will present Batman vs Superman. Where he will be surrounded by media, an event that should certainly be considered as one of the most critical moments of his career. As I wrote last week, he’s capable of that kind of charm. A sheepish grin, a self-deprecating shrug. A carefully worded but casually delivered, likely pre-scripted line, yeah, life kinda sucks right now, or something to that effect…and let the chin dimple do the rest. Who’ll be able to resist it? That could potentially be a big win for him. It’s just that the high from that kind of thing never lasts.

"His biggest problem" reveal
Well this is great timing, isn’t it? It was confirmed yesterday that Batman vs Superman will be at Comic-Con and that Ben Affleck, despite the fact that he just announced his divorce, will make an appearance though it’s been stressed that there will be no personal questions. Of course not.
And here’s the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly featuring Batfleck, Superman, and Wonder Woman front and centre. The magazine also has exclusive photos from the film, including a shot of Batman and Superman getting all up in each other’s faces…
…and Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince flirting at a cocktail party:
Of the relationship between Bruce and Diana, Ben told the EW that:
“I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crowne Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person.”
Oh yeah. Totally.
Good timing or bad timing?
Would it have been better to wait until after Comic-Con to go with the official breakup confirmation? Or does this get the distraction out of the way so that Ben can focus on Batman for the next 9 months without the question mark interfering?
Ben and Warner Bros have a solid partnership. He’s one of the WB boys alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Bradley Cooper. So, ostensibly, there’s a lot of pressure on him to handle it…but they also must have some confidence on how he can handle it. We’ve seen him handle it before. Part of the reason Ben Affleck has been successful is because he can be charming and disarming. When he’s in the mood, when he gets out of his own way, he’s a funny, self-deprecating guy. All it takes from him on the panel, in Hall H in San Diego, is a sheepish shrug, with a crooked smile, and sad eyes…
“Yeah, it’s probably not my best week…” followed by some kind of joke and we’re halfway there. People will laugh. They’re almost be relieved and, crazily enough, even grateful that he’s the one acknowledging the awkwardness and trying not to make it more awkward. Men get away with this sh-t all the time. See Hugh Grant.
Managing Ben in San Diego will be key. If were on the Affleck babysitting team, I’d get him in and out quickly – panel, photos, one or two closely monitored, non-threatening interviews, and then out. Because if you let him stay to party…well…that’s a classic Affleck f-ckup waiting to happen. He often erases his own gains.

"His biggest problem" clue
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce is big news. So, of course, people have been talking a lot about the first Jennifer, the first Bennifer: Ben and JLO. JLO spent the weekend in the Hamptons with Slum Bear. He was riding around in his douchey scooter-segway the other day while shopping with her and the dog – click here to see. It’s actually one of the few times, maybe the only time, that I was happy that he was with her. Because of all the rumours that she had something to do with the Affleck-Garner split.
Bullsh-t.
Ben has his distractions. But beyond showing up in his spank bank, JLO was not one of them. And neither was Margot Robbie. I think the business with Margot Robbie came from an Australian tabloid. That’s your first sign that it’s sketch. What they were reaching for there is that Robbie is hot and she’s on Suicide Squad and Ben’s Batman will cameo in Suicide Squad. But…he was on set for, like, a day. The movie’s being shot in Toronto. She’s been here for months. And her boyfriend is around her all the time, and they’re all over each other all the time. There’s no story here.

"His biggest problem," it's not...
There were a lot of women. Oklahoma was a few years ago. But Oklahoma was certainly not the one who was the most recent, although the most recent, professional turned personal, that I know of at least, is also not that recognisable, for now. She’s waiting for her moment.
Still, these affairs were not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is one he developed on the set of his most recent project. It started with pills and an injury a few years ago. Somehow he was able to function through that. Recently though he was shooting on location. He was a mess. He would go missing overnight. Not the prescription pills now but a hard drug. A very dangerous one. Not the party kind but the kind that brings you down, often alone, to escape. One that not too long ago took the life of a major, major talent. So it’s not the lovers that made him unsuitable for home. This is why she didn’t trust him at home. This is why she had to shake him up. But it’s not like he can get help openly. Not now, when so much is riding on him, with so much coming up. And that’s always been how Hollywood works. Your health is not the priority when there’s a multi-million dollar marketing strategy in place and so many stories to tell. So, sure, he has a support system, a lot of people out there looking out for him. But… is that the right objective?

You thought I was talking about Chavril, didn’t you? Chavril is the first couple of Canadian music, ok? The Great Canadian Love Story was always McGosling, Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. And there’s been a sinkhole in Canadian hearts ever since they broke up and DID NOT GET BACK TOGETHER, even though people keep, futilely, hoping for it.
But now… a worthy replacement?
US Weekly reportedly exclusively yesterday that Rachel and Taylor Kitsch, who met many years ago and who worked together on True Detective 2, are now a thing. One of the magazine’s sources says that:
“It hasn’t been long. But it’s serious.”
Another source, however, tells US Weekly that:
“I don’t know if it’s full-blown love yet, but they talk constantly. They’re really into each other. She talks about him all the time!”
As you know, the two were papped out for dinner about a month ago – click here for a refresher. He left on his bike, she took off in a cab. To me, that wasn’t all that convincing but I didn’t want to kill your dreams. But now, your dreams have seemingly come true.
McTaylor/McKitsch for real?
I’ll believe it (even though they were also reporting that she and Colin Farrell were happening for a while, and Rachel and Jake Gyllenhaal too) but I have some hesitation about these quotes from these sources. Because neither of them, Rachel and Taylor, are known to associate with sellout friends who leak to the tabloids. Because neither spend a lot of time in LA. Taylor has a home in Austin and Rachel, as well documented, would rather be in Toronto. You see what happens though when you get a job that requires you to live in LA for three months? That’s how quickly the LA asshole can infiltrate your life.
Anyway, Rachel should soon be promoting Southpaw…with Jake Gyllenhaal as the film opens July 24. Perhaps the story will change again then. Although I should clarify…when I say I “wonder”, she has nothing to do with it.
But can we take this opportunity to talk about True Detective 2, the show that’s trying so hard to be Dark! Sinister! Layered! I have a really hard time with how often the story needs to slap me in the face with the obviousness of everyone’s daddy issues. I can barely tolerate the dialogue. But Rachel is, by far, the best of them all at delivering it. Finally, right? In 2006, the Wall Street Journal profiled Rachel, basically calling her the Next Big Deal. They compared her to a Stradivarius. They wrote about how everyone in Hollywood was chasing her, wanting to work with her. They knew she was capable of all kinds of work beyond the rom-com. But it took 9 years for us to see this kind of raw grit. Somehow, in spite of the clunky writing, I believe everything that comes out of Rachel’s mouth on this show. She is easily the whole point of the show so far.
You know what the downside of that is though? As much as I like him, as fond as I am of Riggins, as much I want for Taylor Kitsch to succeed, Rachel’s acting, on top of the decent performances that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn are turning in, leaves Taylor exposed. He’s just…not that strong of an actor. (Yet?) On Friday Night Lights, surrounded on the same level with other young actors, he didn’t stand out so much. But on this show, with what he has to keep up with, it’s hard to ignore. Like that breakup scene in episode 2? That breakup scene was really, really painful. I’m watching episode 3 tonight. I’ll let you know if it gets better.

Has she had enough yet?
"Has she had enough yet?" it's not...
Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner: it’s done
Every Friday for the last few weeks, we’ve been bracing for it, haven’t we? The Friday bury. Since it’s Canada Day tomorrow, and most of us in Canada are currently wrapping up for the day off, it does feel, for us here anyway, like a Friday bury. The timing works in America too as it’s Independence Day on Saturday and many in the US are taking an extra long weekend. Also, given the holiday coming up, the magazine deadlines had to have something to do with it too.
But…
The key date is probably June 29. Yesterday. Their 10th anniversary.
And today, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announce that they are divorcing. PEOPLE had the exclusive:
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the couple tells PEOPLE in a joint statement. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
TMZ reports that “they are working things out with a mediator and business managers. The divorce will be filed when all of the property and custody issues are resolved.”
I guess she finally had enough. And then negotiated on her terms? Because the date… the date and the ten years would benefit her, non? Can you imagine how much sh-t she has on him? And, now that they’ve decided to end it, how much sh-t that could come out on him? Out of respect for their family, a lot of people have been holding back on a lot of information. Now? You have to wonder how much of that will play out. Ahem, the key word in that sentence is “wonder”. Keep an eye on that. It could be a house of cards. Jennifer Garner is already beloved. And she will be even more. Him? If they don’t contain this, oh my god, the MiniVan Majority will annihilate him otherwise.
But what does Ben Affleck do with his new “freedom”? Can Ben Affleck help himself? Now that he’s not officially committed anymore?
More on this later in the days to come. In the meantime, I’ve given you a LOT of clues.

Since this is coming off a Taylor Swift post, let me clarify off the top now: this is not about Taylor Swift. Or anyone who hangs out with Taylor Swift – at least not yet. You need to go more down market.
At the beginning of her career, this one did have friends. They’d room together, audition together. And then, one by one, all the friends slowly, carefully stepped away from the crazy. And the sabotage. Once, before a meeting, she told a friend of hers that she was happy for her that she was reading for a part, because it meant that the producers were looking for someone “plain” and that she totally deserved that opportunity to shine. You remember the gossip urban legend about Gwyneth Paltrow seeing the script for Shakespeare In Love on Winona Ryder’s coffee table? Well, this is real life. This one would obsessively stay on top of all the jobs her friends were up for and ride along too. Then, if the opportunity came up, she’d backstab the friends’ skills, talent, commitment, even on occasions when she wasn’t even right for the role. For her, it was unthinkable that anyone else make it before she did. When she did finally make it, although she wasn’t the first choice for her now-hit show, the paranoia about what she’d done to others took over. She accused them of talking sh-t about her and demanded to see their emails. She’d invite them to parties but then piss on them in the bathroom for using her to get face time with industry executives. She’s spread rumours about the prettiest of her friends – they were on drugs, they were unclean – to make sure that they’d never overshadow her. So it’s no surprise that there are none left. The only constant in her life is her partner who she keeps from everyone else because she doesn’t want them moving in on her territory.
But lately she’s been noticing that the gossip media focuses on friendships – not just Taylor Swift but Gwyneth and Reese and Jennifer Aniston and the family that Kanye West married into …everyone in Hollywood has their own club. She wants to be part of a club. No one wants her to be in their club. She had to buy her club. She’s paid 3 or 4 women, none of them with her level of recognition, to start hanging out with her. So when you see her at dinner, surrounded by women as she’s leaving the restaurant? If they show up on Instagram and Twitter? Those people are literally employees. Until of course they become too popular.
